Since, Kabir Singh is a remake of a Telugu cult film, Arjun Reddy, it gave rise to high expectations from the Indian movie lovers. Also, the movie coming from the same director, assured those expectations to sail through. The Teaser and Trailer too emphasized the buzz about it.

Plot :

Kabir Rajveer Singh (Shahid Kapoor) is a short-tempered house surgeon who gets addicted to drinking and lot of other self-destructive addictions after his love of the life Preeti Sikka (Kiara Advani) is forced to marry someone else under few circumstances. Kabir is a top-ranked medical student from a Delhi medical college who later turns out to be a house surgeon after dividing the parts with Preeti.

Highs :

Since the movie, being the same in almost every aspect, Shahid Kapoor didn't try anything different from the original one and tried to be like Vijay Devarakonda, however, had managed to live up to the expectations and performed well.

They have certainly improved in Musical aspect, as songs were simply exceptional and the raw Back Ground Music (BGM) is a mix of some new and some from Original.

Tried to retain the essence of Original in iconic scenes which worked well here too.

Humour is also a part which worked for Kabir Singh.

This time Preeti looked prettier compared to the one in Arjun Reddy, however, the drawback is, she was given less screen space and we could feel less about her character in the movie.

Even though few of the scenes from the original ones were removed, it was 10 min short, though felt lengthy. The climax seemed to be dragged.

Some scenes fell flat, like at the end of the dialogue when Kabir will be asked by Preeti 'Kabir, what do you like in me?' He answers 'I like the way you breathe'. For this, you expect some reaction or some elevation, but it was just wrapped up after that and there was a feeling that something was missing. Few of the scenes feel like they have been stretched in between and also the editing could have been even better.

Verdict :

Kabir Singh lands as a good film for the Bollywood audience but may not gather the cult following as original. For Shahid Kapoor fans, this is another opportunity to see your favourite actor bringing out his best on the screen. No one can fault his character and for his method of approach to the character. Kabir Singh might not hit the spike on romance but will surely appeal to the filmy, drama-loving fans who’ll enjoy the story of a couple who cannot define the line between love and deep passion. For people who have seen Arjun Reddy recently may not like it.
