Based on whose life story is Hrithik Roshan's latest movie 'Super 30' directed?

Hrithik Roshan, yesterday released the trailer of his upcoming film Super 30 and fans of one of the topmost desirable man couldn't contain their excitement after seeing their favourite superstar back on the silver screen for the first time since 2017. Hrithik returns to the theatres on July 12 this year, as he portrays the role of Bihar-based mathematician Anand Kumar in the movie Super 30, which is directed by Vikas Bahl.

Super 30 saw Hrithik in leaner body shape than he is usually in, while his look, including hair, clothes and demeanour are dramatically as well. Earlier, he had discussed, how he lost weight to get into the skin of the character.

Now, all the efforts are reflecting in the two-and-a-half-minute-long trailer as Hrithik steals the show and inspires people with his typical portrayal of Anand Kumar. To some of the viewers, Super 30 may remind them of how the 45-year-old actor impressed everyone with his strangely unique performance in the 2003 sci-fi film Koi Mil Gaya, where he played a disabled character named Rohit.

Coming to the trailer, it was seen at the beginning that the movie was directed based on a true story. However, if you would like to know, on whose life story the movie was made, then you will need to continue reading on from here.

The movie is directed based on the life of Anand Kumar, a mathematician in Bihar and on his educational program Super 30. Super 30 is an educational program in India which was started in Patna under the banner of Ramanujan School of Mathematics.

It was co-founded by an IPS officer, Abhayanand and Anand Kumar a mathematics teacher in the year 2002. The program selects 30 talented candidates each year from economically underprivileged sections of Indian society and trains them for the JEE. The same program is being portrayed in the film.

The plan of Super 30 is to select 30 talented students from economically impoverished sections who could not afford IIT coaching. These 30 students were then trained to pass IIT-JEE examinations. Anand Kumar's mother, Jayanti Devi, was the volunteer to cook for the students while Anand, Abhayanand, and other teachers tutored them. The students were also provided with study materials and stay for a year free of cost.

In the first year of the coaching, 18 out of 30 students made it to IITs. The following year, application numbers increased due to the popularity of the program and written examination was conducted to select a set of 30 students. In 2004, 22 out of 30 students qualified for IIT-JEE, drastically increasing the popularity of the program which attracted even more applications.

In 2005, 26 out of 30 students made it to IIT while in 2006 28 students cleared the examination, despite the fact that IIT changed the examination pattern. In appreciation of their efforts, Bihar's Chief Minister at that time, Mr Nitish Kumar congratulated the students with a cash prize of Rupees 50,000 each.

The following year, 28 more students achieved the IIT dream and finally, in 2008, for the first time in their history, all of the Super 30 cleared the IIT JEE, thereby achieving perfect results. Then, Abhayanand quit Super 30, saying "the experiment is over". Later, Anand's former students joined as teachers for the Super 30 and in the year 2009, all 30 students again managed to clear the IIT JEE.

In 2010, the Time Magazine included Super 30 in its list of "The Best of Asia 2010". The organization also received praise from US President Barack Obama's special envoy Rashad Hussain, who termed it to be the "best" institute in the country. In November 2010, Co-founder Anand Kumar was awarded 'the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Shiksha Puraskar', the highest award given by the Bihar state government in the field of education.

In 2017, all the candidates again cracked the IIT-JEE Advanced 2017. In 2018, Kumar and his team have claimed that 26 students of 'Super 30' achieved success in IIT-JEE Advanced 2018 but this has been involved in a controversy with the former students filing public interest litigation in Gauhati High Court. It has also been alleged that Anand does not teach students for free and once the results are announced, Kumar does a Photoshoot with successful students and claims them to be from the batch of Super 30.

However, keeping the controversy aside, the 'Super 30' has inspired lots of underprivileged students in Bihar to strive hard in studies to get into the Super 30 and has also inspired the movie makers to display this incredible story on the big screens. The trailer of this movie has also received lots of praising from various Bollywood stars and also from the author & motivational speaker, Chetan Bhagat.
